Burial will be in Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, IL

Gladys L. Jones, 95, Stoy, IL passed away Tuesday June 27, 2017 at Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong, IL.

Gladys was born on November 28, 1921 in Crawford County, Illinois. She was the daughter of Ralph Sears and Edith (Donaldson) Sears. She married Charles “Chuck” Lackey in 1942 and he preceded her in death in 1980. Gladys married Albert E. Jones in 1981 and he died on November 19, 1999.

As a young lady, Gladys worked as a waitress at the Sears Café in Stoy, IL which was owned by her mother. She spent most of her adult life and a homemaker and housewife. Gladys was Past President of the Ladies Legion of Honor Auxiliary of the Murat Temple in Indianapolis, IN; was a member of the Hillbilly Gals of the Murat Temple; belonged to the Crawford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Robinson, IL and was a member of the Oblong American Legion Post #219 Ladies Auxiliary, Oblong, IL.

Gladys is survived by a nephew Mike Brimberry of Colorado, several cousins and a host of friends.

Preceding Gladys in death were her parents; first husband Charles “Chuck” Lackey; two sons Keith “K.B.” Lackey who was killed in the Viet Nam War in 1970 and Jerry “J.C.” Lackey who died in 1989; a great grandson Brian Keith Lackey who died as an infant and her second husband Albert E. Jones.
